Do you like trading? I have found over the past year or so that I to tend to trade for my more of my new acquisitions instead of buying them. That is not to say that I don’t buy new and used copies of games and books, but when possible I prefer to lighten the burden on my shelves by getting rid of the old in favor of the new. If I were to estimate the percentage of trades versus purchases I would say that I am currently at a solid 70/30.
Where do I do most of my trading? I use sites like Consim World’s marketplace for my wargames, RPG Geek’s Math Trades and trade manager system for RPGs and I also use a variety of Facebook groups for all sorts of trades. I have had nothing but good experiences with my trades over the years, but caveat emptor is a must. Do a little research and make sure your trading partner is on the up and up and you too will find lots of good experiences.

Rolling Boxcars 
I tend to buy more than trade. My collection (like my DVD collection) has got to the point where it’s 95% “keepers.” I do trade every so often (I recently traded DC Heroes 2E box for the black box D&D beginners game). I’m also starting to come to the end of my “want” list. I hate that.

I go through cycles where I want to trade for a game I would like to read and/or play. It hurts less to tade than to purchase. Like you, I am getting to the point where I am mostly keepers these days.
