Earlier today I came across a gentleman named Ric M. in one of the many buy/sell/trade groups I belong to on Facebook who posted he was considering selling off his collection to raise funds for his daughter’s cancer treatment expenses. His situation hit me link a ton of bricks! I am a parent and a grandparent and I can’t imagine being this guy’s shoes, but I would do the same thing that he is doing without thinking twice. I love my family more than my books or my hobby.
Ric and I have never met or gamed together, but I felt compelled to action. He and I chatted at length this evening and I arranged to purchase several items I needed to fill in holes in my collection of older D&D books and module sets and I was happy to support his efforts. As someone who has recently lost two family members to cancer, anything that I can do to help kick cancer’s ass is a-okay in my book! I wish Serene a safe and speedy recovery and I hope her family is also able to recover from this ordeal as well. My purchase was not large, but I hope it helps!
If you are a member of the Role-Playing Games & Miniatures Trade Sell & Barter on Facebook, you can find him and his sale there. All his game sales are going through his Go Fund Me campaign which is located here. Take a moment to read his daughter’s story. I am not asking anyone to give, but if you feel in the giving spirit, they could use the funds. You can help in other ways too. Help boost the signal, share the Go Fund Me page far and wide by sharing it in any of your gaming communities on either Facebook or G+. I am sure this amazingly strong and courageous young lady would thank you!
