A Year in Review

In January of 2015, I set some personal goals and a laundry list of goals for the blog. This is a look back at where I met or failed to meet my stated goals. Available time and a lack of tech savvy may have played a part in missing the mark on some of the stated goals. I will also post the results of two RPGGeek.com challenges I participated this year. These look backs are fun and can be very informative. I thought my goals for 2015 were rather attainable when I was writing them so, let’s see where I ended up!

Our Goals:
Publish 300th post (Exceeded – Published 350+ posts)
Publish 25 reviews (Did not meet – Published 16 reviews)
Publish 10 interviews (written and/or recorded) (Did not meet – Published 7 Interviews)
Record 10 live game sessions (Did not meet – Only recorded 1 Public Game)
Establish 1 regular monthly column (Topic/Content TBD) (Did not Meet, 1 failed attempt)
Bring 1 new blogger onboard (Did not Meet)
Continue to develop the Banter Show (Did not Meet, have mixed feelings about this)
Continue to develop and promote the Defender Gaming Initiative (Still in work)

What is there to learn from the above? First, I am not good at setting realistic goals apparently. Second, I need to pare down my ideas of what might actually be attainable when deciding what my 2016 goals should be. Third, I need to get even more tech savvy in 2016!

RPGG Challenges

The 2015 RPGG GM Challenge ended with me just barely meeting the minimum standard of 5 games. Kind of crappy for the guy who organized the challenge, don’t you think? Nonetheless it was fun to run new systems!

Not a goal, but some fun data. My RPG Geek account indicates that my top 5 games systems played this past were:

Game Qty
Labyrinth Lord 11
Les Ombres d’Esteren (Shadws of Esteren) 7
Numenera Cypher System 5
Call of Cthulhu (7th Edition) 3
Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game 3
Dungeon World 3
The Quiet Year 3
The One Ring 2
Trail of Cthulhu 2

I enjoy setting goals and then trying to meet the objectives. In some cases I am successful, but in many cases, I am not. The takeaway here is to better plan my goals in 2016, Do more of what I like and less of what I don’t like.

Here’s to a wonderful 2016!
