The Future is Looking Very Bright

Here we are, 9 days into the new year and things are off to a fabulous start here at Rolling Boxcars. Here’s a look at what we have been up to so far and what we are getting involved in this year.

d10-1 I have decided that I wanted to do something bold and crazy this year. The other day I publicly proclaimed that I was going to acquire every Call of Cthulhu book, magazine or supplement published or re-published in 2017. Furthermore, I will be reading and reviewing every one of these and publishing them here on the blog. I have set up a one-stop shop for following my progress, links to the reviews and links to the products themselves. All of that can be found here. If you’re a publisher and would like to help me realize this goal through review copies, notifications of new releases, etc please email me at rollingboxcarsblog@gmail.com

d10-2 Every year over on RPG Geek I organize a GMs challenge that promotes GMs to run or facilitate games they have never run before; particularly those languishing on their shelves. 2017 is no exception. I would encourage everyone to have a look at the 2017 RPGG GM Challenge – Run 5 Games You Have Never Run! challenge and sign up. It’s a fun way to get involved, try running some new games for your friends and a way to track what you have been running.

d10-3 My dream of running a campaign of King Arthur Pendragon is getting closer to being a reality. I am nearly finished reading the newly revised rulebook and I have also begun reading The Great Pendragon Campaign. The rules are starting to come back to me after nearly 20 years of not playing this great game system. If you’re interested in playing with us online, hit me up on Google+. I have several open seats and we’ll see if our schedules align.

d10-4 I have been working with Ty Snouffer from Games From the Front and we are going to be setting up a blogger exchange between our two blogs. Games From the Front is heavily wargame-centric with a sprinkling of RPGs thrown in–the reverse of Rolling Boxcars. We think our blogs complement each other nicely. Ty and I will be writing for each other’s blogs periodically throughout the year. So, keep an eye out here for Ty’s articles here and have a look at his blog.

If you’re a blogger and would like to discuss a writing exchange, please email me at rollingboxcarsblog@gmail.com

d10-5 The 2017 review pile is growing faster than I thought. Currently in the pile is one wargame – The Scheldt Campaign and several RPGs. The RPGs are Things We Leave BehindKing Arthur Pendragon, Convicts & Cthulhu, WWII Operation Whitebox, OWB: Allied Missions 1 and Seven Wonders.  And there is more in the works. This is going to be a busy year!

Here’s to bright and productive future!
