Chaosium Not Renewing Call of Cthulhu License with Cubicle 7

Cubicle 7, publisher of several Call of Cthulhu supplement lines, announced yesterday that they will no longer be publishing Call of Cthulhu licensed supplements in the coming year. As you will see from their statement, this breaking of ties is mutual and on good terms. The idea of them keeping their Cthulhu Britannica, World War Cthulhu and The Laundry products going forward is great. Though I am not sure I want to learn a new mechanical system, I will probably just stick with what I love, Call of Cthulhu.

Cubicle 7’s Call of Cthulhu license expires at the end of the year and by mutual agreement with Chaosium it is not going to be renewed. There are no hard feelings on either side, and we are still on great terms – these things happen. Call of Cthulhu is Chaosium’s baby and we wish them all the best.

We’ve enjoyed working with Call of Cthulhu and Chaosium, but we’re also looking forward to the challenge of designing our own game systems for Cthulhu Britannica, World War Cthulhu and The Laundry. Putting together games that really showcase the themes of their setting is what we do best, after all! Keep an eye on the newsletter for more information in due course.

Stay tuned – we’ll be holding a sale on our Call of Cthulhu titles in December!

Now for the pending sale, this is great news! Well, that is, provided the discounts are steep and the shipping to the US will not kill the deal for me. There are a number of in print books that I would want for the World War Cthulhu and The Laundry product lines. If you’re looking to get some good deals, regardless of what the sale ends up being, you can’t go wrong with the Cthulhu Britannica: London boxset. Hands down, it is one of the best products I own and regularly reference. Once I learn more about the sale, I will spread the news far and wide!
